Winner of our Student Fall Raffle!

This semester, in honor of our new outdoor recycling containers and improved facebook page, we decided to embark upon an educational campaign we referred to as the “Caught Green Handed,” Facilities and Support Operations Fall Raffle. When students were caught using these containers, attending local foods dinners, or otherwise being “Green” on campus, they were given a raffle ticket and a code which they could enter on our facebook page for a chance to win a new Amazon Kindle!

A kindle, for those of you who may be out of the loop, is an innovation designed by Amazon (as in amazon.com) to allow for easy reading on the go. Instead of buying and carrying books, you can pay a reduced price and get a book downloaded directly to your kindle, which can hold up to 3,500 books at one time. For a student, a kindle means a reduced cost to books both for school and for recreational reading.

As our semester draws to a close, I am happy to announce the winner of our “Caught Green Handed” Fall Raffle; Claire Roberson!

Claire is a freshmen and English major, who received her ticket for attending the local foods dinner at danforth during local foods week. Congratulations Claire – we hope your new kindle helps to support you in your studies!

Claire didn’t know she could win just by going to that dinner, and it just goes to show that you never know what benefits might come from being just a bit more sustainable!

Happy Holidays from all of us here at Facilities and Support Operations!
