Celebrate Earth Week 2024!

It’s that time of year to celebrate that place we call home: Earth Day! This year, University students, staff, and faculty are coming together for a week of events to plant trees and pollinators, learn about low-waste activities, share in a local foods dinner, and more. April 15 – 25: Grassroots EarthFest 

A variety of environmental sustainability events held on River Campus. Hosted by Grassroots.

April 17: Students’ Association Sustainability Mixer

4:00 – 6:00 pm on Wilson Commons porch
Free pizza, soda, and popsicles
The mixer is to increase the visibility of sustainability minded organizations among the student population and to celebrate the work organizations have accomplished over the past year.

 

April 22: DIY Terrarium and Bird Feeders

11:00 am – 2:00 pm in Hirst Lounge

Join Student Activities Board and Birding Club to make succulent terrariums and bird feeders, and your own “mud cup!” (chocolate pudding, crushed oreos, and gummy worms)

 

April 24: Bee Day Pollinator Planting & Riverside Cleanup: 

12:00 – 3:00 pm: Tree and pollinator planting
1:00 – 2:00 pm: River clean up
Hill Court Rd (see map and image below)
Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring water and gloves if needed. Those interested in the river clean up can meet at the planting site on Hill Court Rd and will depart to clean up on the Genesee Riverway Trail along Wilson Blvd. Questions can be sent to greenreps@rochester.edu.

April 24: Local Foods Dinner 

5:00 – 7:00 pm in Danforth Dining Hall.

Features local farmers and vendors.

Hosted by Dining Services and Dining Team Green.

 

April 27: Tree Talk Festival 

11:00 am – 1:00 pm @ Enrico Fermi School #17

Hosted by Institute for Human Health and the Environment and Enrico Fermi School #17 (158 Orchard St., Rochester, NY 14611).
