Bicycle Friendly University Silver Award – 2019

League of American Bicyclist LogoCriteria: The University first achieved Bronze recognition in 2015 and has made improvements in the last few years to achieve the Silver status. A new bicycle map makes it easier for cyclists to navigate paths and access resources such as repair stations. Transportation and Parking Management also partnered with Well-U to offer bicycling safety and maintenance classes offered during the peak bicycling months April through November. Read more…

AASHE LogoCriteria: Since recognized as a STARS Silver Institution by the Association for the Advancement of Sustainability in Higher Education (AASHE) in 2016, the University of Rochester and its community has continued to enhance its projects and expand its influence. Green Star Award – 2019

PGMS LogoCriteria: The Professional Grounds Management Society acknowledged the Cherry Garden and Arboretum.Averaging nearly 100 inches of snow a year, the Cherry Garden, home to 30 Kwanzan Cherry trees, is a welcome sight to students in Springtime. The University’s arboretum, located on the Genesee River, was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, and is home to American Beech, Black Gum, Japanese Pagoda Trees, Northern Red Oak, Scarlet Oak, and Dawn Redwood. NACUFS LogoCriteria: Recipients are judged on the globally accepted Triple Bottom Line philosophy of “people, planet, profit.” NACUFS strives to support and promote excellence in collegiate dining while upholding its core values of integrity, inclusiveness, continuous improvement, critical thinking, and responsiveness. The University of Rochester’s Dining Services was honored for their commitment to serving local food in campus dining halls.
