Don’t Trash; Donate

Thanks, Ms. Clay for last Friday’s shout-out to two great initiatives going on right now; Dump & Run and the End of Year Cleanout. This past weekend we hope you took time to celebrate your hero Mom, but let’s not forget about Mother Nature too. With finals coming to an end the craziness of move-out time begins. If you are a student who doesn’t want to take back home with you everything you brought or accumulated this year, you have options. Not only will you be going green but helping someone else out too.

You can’t miss the big yellow Planet Aid collection boxes for clothing located outside all of the student housing areas and you probably noticed the food collection barrels for Open Door Mission in the entryway of each residential building too. Both of these are part of what has become known as the End of Year Cleanout, spearheaded by yours truly (Amy Kadrie). These containers will be around until next Monday the 17th so if you’re attending Commencement you still have time to do your part. You can also leave behind unwanted electronics (that includes anthing with a plug) in the Sue B. or Sage loading dock areas and rest assured that they will be properly recycled. See the flyer for details.

This past Saturday the first Dump & Run event took place for Sue B., Southside, Towers, and the Quad.  Hill Court and Riverview Apartments will get their turn next Saturday the 15th. SA funded Grassroots is looking for items that they can re-sell to students in the Fall. The proceeds help fund all of the great initiatives that Grassroots organizes and anything they don’t sell will be donated to Planet Aid. See the flyer for details.
