Announcing the 8th Annual E-Cycle Day Event

University Facilities and Services is partnering with Sunnking to hold the eighth annual E-Cycle Day. This is an opportunity for all members of the University to safely and easily recycle unwanted electronics from home. E-Cycle Day will take place on Friday, October 30th from 6:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in Park Lot on the River Campus.

Almost all electronics are accepted at the E-Cycle Day event. Simply drive over to Park Lot and volunteers will help unload items from your vehicle. This includes computers and computer accessories (printers, monitors, mice, keyboards, webcams, speakers, microphones, etc.), televisions, microwave ovens, coffee makers, telephones, power tools, gaming equipment, lamps, cables and wires, and anything else with a circuit board or a cord! However, please refrain from bringing devices containing Freon (refrigerators, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, etc.), devices containing mercury (thermostats, thermometers, medical devices, etc.), household hazardous waste material, yard equipment, and dry cell batteries. For a full list of accepted items, visit Sunnking’s website.

Worried about personal information stored in your electronics? Sunnking ensures that all information is removed from each device. Data is securely wiped and devices are destroyed according to the HIPAA, FACTA, GLB, and Sarbanes Oxley regulations.

Sunnking is an EPA R2 certified electronics recycling, data destruction, & asset management company dealing in end-of-life electronics and equipment. After security measures have been taken, Sunnking makes its best effort to resell or reuse all electronics. All other electronics are recycled and used to make new products.

This event is free to University of Rochester employees and students and there is no limit to the number of electronics you can bring. However, this event is for personal and household electronics only. Please do not bring departmental or University-owned electronics. To schedule a pick-up of University-owned electronics, visit the University IT Equipment Recovery Program webpage . If you cannot attend E-Cycle, the IT Equipment Recovery Program extends it services for personal items as well! You can also explore Monroe County’s ecopark where you can drop-off most electronics.

You can spread the word about E-Cycle Day by forwarding or printing an event flyer.
