University earns 5 stars in the Campus Pride Index

The University of Rochester has scored five out of five stars on the Campus Pride Index (CPI) for LGBTQ inclusivity, putting it at the top of the list among some of America’s most prestigious universities.

The CPI is the premier LGBTQ national benchmarking tool for colleges and universities to create safer, more inclusive campuses.

The Sustainability Tracking, Assessment & Rating System (STARS) offers Innovation & Leadership credit for the CPI. STARS includes ranking for the support of marginalized, underrepresented and vulnerable populations.  Underrepresented groups, are defined as “groups who have been denied access and/or suffered past institutional discrimination and/or have been marginalized and are currently underrepresented. These groups may include, but are not limited to, racial, ethnic and immigrant populations; people with disabilities; lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals; adult learners; veterans; and individuals from different religious groups and economic backgrounds.”
