Eco-Friendly Summer Drink Tips

While summer is in full swing, nothing cools you down like a refreshing summer drink! Whether you are enjoying your day at the park or relaxing in the backyard, be sure your cool drink is as environmentally friendly as possible. Whether you choose to sip on lemonade or iced tea, there are always ways to reduce waste while staying hydrated.

Reusable cups

Just like reusable water bottles, reusable cups are a great way to reduce single-use plastic and save money in the long run. There are many types of cups on the market with different sizes, shapes, colors, and materials. Learn more about the pros and cons of different types of materials here.

Ditch the straw

Try to avoid using straws when possible. If you do use a straw, opt for a reusable one. There are many types of straws: bamboo, paper, metal, glass, etc. Remember to store your straw in your bag whenever you head outside so you can opt-out of single-use straws in public.

Use Natural Garnishes

Instead of topping drinks with a mini umbrella, try using natural garnishes like lemon rinds, mint, and berries. Hang your natural garnishes on the side of the cup or push them onto reusable picks instead of disposable, wooden toothpicks.

Shop locally

It goes without saying that purchasing local food is good for the environment. Remember to use seasonal fruits rather than searching for something exotic which may require a larger carbon footprint to get to you.

Extra Tips
