This past week I came across the idea of reusing old wine and other beverage containers as decorative pieces around the house. Since the holidays have just ended, most households are likely to have at least a few bottles in their recycling bin. Just about anyone can do these quick and simple crafts! Transforming old bottles saves money on decorations, reducing your purchases, and reusing an item that would otherwise be discarded. Here are some ways you can redesign your old bottles!

  1. Spray paint glass bottles to use as flower pots.
  2. Paint or wrap the bottles in twine for a simple centerpiece or table accessory.
  3. Make the bottle into a lamp.
  4. Decorate the bottles for the season- Halloween, Summer, Fourth of July, etc.
  5. Nail polish or Sharpies can help make more detailed designs.
  6. Make chalkboard bottles with chalkboard paint.
  7. Use them as candle holders.

The wine corks can also be used for many crafty projects including making coasters, stamps, reusable bottle stoppers, for holding thread, and creating pictures.
