I love to exercise, but too often what we do to exercise depletes our fossil fuels – treadmills and ski lifts powered by electric, golf courses mowed using fuel, aerobic and yoga classes in air conditioned and heated facilities. Instead of using fuel to burn calories, set up a sustainable exercise program. There are many options and they are all fun:
Cross country ski
Canoe or kayak
Swim in a lake or ocean
Play football, softball, baseball, or soccer
Exercise can help us to be healthy and happy. Being more sustainable in our excercise program is one more way to improve the environment. Hopefully our gyms will soon begin to fill with equipment that creates energy, rather than using it.
