Clay’s Corner

Happy Friday, earth-friendly mates!

A special shout-out to all of our guests, families, alumni, friends and volunteers who are visiting the wonderful University of Rochester this weekend for our annual Meliora (our motto- means “ever better”) celebration. Our dedicated facilities staff will be here throughout the festivities, helping make your visit a memorable one. Welcome!

Earlier this week, the Corner along with the rest of the Green Dandelion posse met with the fine folks from Cool Rochester (http://coolrochester.org/)

This is an incredibly dedicated, professional group of citizens who are working to inspire all of us to live more sustainably. What is special about this team is that they have a terrific understanding of the ‘real world’ and really focus on the money you save by reducing energy usage among other items. This group helps you put ‘theory’ to practice that you can see in your bank account! Stay tuned as we start to roll out Cool Rochester to staff, faculty, healthcare and other workers. Students are also encouraged and welcomed to join us. In the meantime check out their web site. They are really kewl!

The Corner is off on another road trip next week. Destination: Staten Island. While I’m there for my ‘normal’ job (what, this isn’t normal?), I’ll be keeping my eyes open and sharing ideas with you on how the folks downstate are doing with sustainabilty and recycling.
