Title: Suppressing the fundamental thermo-optic noises of a high-Q microresonator
Abstract: We report a novel approach to dramatically suppress the fundamental temperature fluctuations and thermo-optic noises of a high-Q microresonator by orders of magnitude, achieved remarkably via pure optical means without cooling the device temperature.
Speaker #2: Kang Liu
Title: Study of THz emission from ring-Airy beam induced plasma
Abstract: By using abruptly autofocusing beams, as opposed to the conventional Gaussian beams, to generate plasma in the ambient air, the authors are able to observe an enhancement in the terahertz (THz) wave radiation from the plasma. This work could inspire a new direction for controlling THz radiation from laser-induced plasma by sculpting the excitation beams, and pave the way to THz remote spectroscopy.
