On April 4, 2011 the SPIE chapter hosted 16 female students from a STEM interest group at Arcadia High School for a day of Optics. The day started with an Optics demo/workshop, followed by lab tours and a campus tour. Some of the volunteers joined the students for lunch, where there was discussion of what college is like and how to balance their multitude of interests as they consider career paths. We then sent them on their way for a tour of the Lab for Laser Energetics.
Here are some pictures of the workshop, run by SPIE chapter members:
The girls enjoyed the opportunity very much!
