Jeanine Hayes is Vice President of IP and Deputy General Counsel of Yahoo! Inc. where she is responsible for the company’s global intellectual property functions. In her role, Ms. Hayes oversees the company’s various IP groups, including those responsible for patents, trademarks, domains and copyrights. She manages a wide variety of the company’s licensing activities and IP transactions, including IP deals and acquisitions, divestitures, JV structures and other strategic partnerships. Additionally, Ms. Hayes and her teams are responsible for patent and trademark litigation, as well as global IP policy. Ms. Hayes joined Yahoo! as part of its acquisition of Overture Services, Inc., where she had been both IP and Litigation Counsel, and then its General Counsel. While at Overture, she helped develop and implement Overture’s IP and business strategy, helping position the company as the industry leader in paid search and search-related IP. Prior to her in-house and corporate experience, Ms. Hayes was in private practice in Los Angeles where she worked with various clients and industries on IP, litigation, business and content related matters. A registered patent attorney, Ms. Hayes holds an engineering degree in Optics from the Hajim School of Engineering and Applied Sciences at the University of Rochester, where she also studied business at the William E. Simon school. She received her law degree from Loyola Law School where she was Articles Editor of Law Review.
