Designing The Green Lens: 2010 IODC Lens Design Problem
Tuesday, August 3, 2010

The 2010 IODC (International Optical Design Conference) lens design problem challenged designers to create a “green” lens requiring only one testplate pair and an optical flat and using a single glass material. Lenses were evaluated by a merit function based on the entrance pupil diameter and the field of view.
I will present an overview of the challenge, different methods and tricks for approaching the design, as well as my solution. A final analysis will determine how “green” my lens actually is.
Bring your lunch at the talk; we will offer the dessert!
