The Rochester Festival of Lights and North Pole Village, a benefit for the Salvation Army, continues weekends and some weeknights through Monday, Dec. 31, at the Dome Arena in Henrietta. The spectacle includes a drive-through display of holiday lights, an indoor light show and children’s activities. Tickets start at $15 per car. Hours are 6 to 10 p.m.; a complete list of dates is posted on the Dome’s website.

The Hip-Hop Nutcracker

The Hip-Hop Nutcracker, a contemporary, touring version of the classic set in 1980s Brooklyn and featuring dancers, a DJ, a violinist and digital scenery, is at the Auditorium Theatre at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22. Tickets start at $30.

The Memorial Art Gallery’s next Third Thursday concert, Angels and Shepherds, starts at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 20 in the Fountain Court and will feature Eastman School of Music faculty members and students performing traditional holiday music from the Baroque tradition. Paid MAG admission after 5 p.m. Thursday is half-price: $7.50; $6 for senior citizens; $3 for college students with ID and ages 6 to 18. (Children 5 and younger are always admitted free of charge.)

Holiday Party and Gingerbread House Contest

The Young Urban Preservationists of the Landmark Society of Western New York are hosting a Holiday Party and Gingerbread House Contest from 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Fifth Frame Brewing in the St. Paul Quarter. All aboard the only real Santa Train Ride in Rochester! All trains depart from our restored 1909 train station at Industry, just 20 minutes from downtown Rochester. Enjoy the festive atmosphere and complimentary hot chocolate and cookies while you wait for the conductor to call “ALL ABOARD!”

Climb aboard our restored vintage freight train cabooses for a special trip to the North Pole to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus! Every child will get to meet Santa and receive a candy cane from one of his elves. This event is perfect for young children, with the entire train ride experience and Santa visit lasting about an hour.

Bus Schedule

Winter Break Schedules

Reduced shuttle service to the River Campus will begin on Monday, December 24, 2018 and end on Saturday, Saturday, January 12, 2019. Full service will resume on Monday, January 14, 2019. Medical Center shuttles—Corporate Woods, Highland Hospital, Evening Staff Shuttle, and Lot 24-Scottsville Road—will operate as usual with no change to their schedules during winter break. There will be no shuttle service for River Campus or Medical Center routes on Tuesday, December 25 and Tuesday, January 1.
