Spring Riverside Cleanup and Tree Planting

On Friday, April 29, members of the University’s Green Reps, the Emergency Department’s Green Team, and Facilities Team Green joined together to celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day to plant some new tress on campus and clean up the grounds along the Genesee River.

It was a beautiful day and participants learned about the importance of native plants and species for the environment from staff experts from Horticulture and Grounds Department. After planting six silver maple trees, the group walked along the river to collect garbage. Several bags of trash were collected. Participants shared they had a great time, learned a lot, and look forward to hopefully doing it all again sometime.

A special thanks to Sherin George, the Green Reps program coordinator, Val Lou, from ED, and John McIntyre, manager of Horticulture and Grounds, Amy Kadrie with Facilities and Services, and to all who came out to help with this joyous event!
