Color Recycling

In the spirit of our recent Eyeglasses Collection and Competition and the currently running Move-out Cleanout program, we have found another program to repurpose materials that we would like to share. This one is especially useful for children and educators, but also appropriate for an office setting.

The material subject to collection is markers! And the program is Crayola ColorCycle. When your markers run out instead of throwing them in the trash, consider this as an option. They do not have to be Crayola brand markers; they can be any type including dry erase and highlighters. They pay for the shipping too. You simply box up the markers and print the prepaid shipping label.

So what happens next? The markers will be sent to a facility where they will be converted into clean fuel. This fuel can be used to power vehicles, heat homes, cook meals and more!

We are exploring running a collection at the University. Would you participate??

  1. Speaking of Office environments our web design studio, uses markers for visualisation and idea realisation especially for conceptual web designs before the wireframe stage. We get through tons of the proMarker brand they just get thrown away.

  2. The Physics-Optics-Astronomy Library generates a great deal of whiteboard marker waste. We’d definitely participate!
