Hello from Team Green – Dining Services!

Hello world (says every first blog post ever)! Welcome to SUSTAINNIBLE, The Green Dandelion’s newest section providing you with dining news that will keep you eating healthy and feeling happy.

We are Team Green for Dining Services, a group of six student interns dedicated to promoting sustainable dining practices on this campus. We work directly under Cam Schauf, the Director of Dining Services, so if we’ve got an idea, it goes to ears with power. In addition, we often work on existing sustainability programs you might not know about, which we then post on social media so you are informed about all the resources you can use.

The University is dedicated to limiting the amount of energy and waste we generate as a result of campus dining. To that end, we source 61% of all food locally from New York State, follow a comprehensive purchasing plan (put together by Team Green) to buy the most sustainable options that fit the University budget, and implement innovative ways of waste disposal. Throughout the year, we’ll highlight all of these programs, and more!

But, all you need to know right now is that we are here to listen to your ideas to improve campus sustainability and that we DO have the power as a student group to get your ideas heard by the right people in charge.
