ANNOUNCING THE 10TH ANNUAL E-CYCLE DAY

Mark your calendars for the tenth annual E-cycle Day! The event will be held on Friday, November 10th from 6:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in Zone 3 South (formerly known as Park Lot). E-Cycle Day is an opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and affiliates of the University to safely and simply recycle unwanted personal electronics. As a registered America Recycles Day event, E-Cycle Day makes getting rid of old electronics easy and eco-friendly.  Facilities and Services partners with Sunnking, an electronic recycling company, to securely recycle the electronics dropped off at the event.

Items accepted at E-Cycle Day include computers and accessories (printers, monitors, mice, keyboards, webcams, speakers, microphones, etc.), scanners, televisions, microwave ovens, coffee makers, telephones, power tools, gaming equipment, lamps, cables and wires, cell phone chargers, video equipment, tablets, and anything else with a circuit board or a cord. Appliances containing Freon, such as refrigerators and air conditioners, as well as broken CRTs, alkaline batteries, CDs, DVDs, and tapes will not be accepted at this event. Sunnking is an EPA R2 certified electronics recycling, data destruction, & asset management company dealing in end-of-life electronics and equipment. Sunnking’s standards of hard drive wiping and shredding ensure that all personal information on those electronics is erased, eliminating instances of identity theft. After security measures have been taken, Sunnking makes its best effort to resell or reuse all electronics.

This event is free to University of Rochester employees and students and there is no limit to the number of electronics you can bring. Enthusiastic volunteers will be present in Zone 3 South (former Park Lot) on E-Cycle Day to help unload electronics. Please bring personal and household electronics only. Departmental and University-owned electronics will not be accepted. To schedule a pick-up of University-owned electronics, visit the University IT Equipment Recovery Program webpage. If you cannot attend E-Cycle Day, the IT Equipment Recovery Program extends it services for personal items as well! You can also utilize the Monroe County ecopark where you can drop-off most electronics.

To get to Zone 3 South (former Park Lot) by car from the Medical Center: (1) Head south on Elmwood Avenue and take a right onto Wilson Boulevard to enter the River Campus. (2) Take your first right (before the information booth) onto Trustee Road. (3) Take another right onto Intercampus Drive. (4) Drive across the bridge over Elmwood Avenue. (5) Zone 3 South will be to the right. Please drive all the way to the end of the lot to enter event site. Signs will be posted to help direct you.

  1. I am truly pleased to read this blog posts which consists of plenty of useful information, thanks for providing these kinds of data.

  2. As of right now we do not have a date set. We will be working with the changing safety protocols to evaluate the situation.

  3. The annual event usually takes place on a Friday in late Oct/early November. At this time, we do not have the 2020 date picked yet. For those of you looking for updates here, please note this is article will become obsolete as it is about a past event in 2017. But we always announce our events in the form of a new post about 1 month prior to the scheduled event date. Stay tuned for details!!

  4. These kinds of useful events are taken place in great countries. I belong to a developing country and I wish these kinds of steps should also be taken in my country.

  5. Not yet. Check back at the end of summer. It should be scheduled for a date in Oct or Nov.

  6. Hi! Thanks for reaching out. At this point we have not scheduled a date, but it is typically on a Friday in July. We will be sure to announce it about a month and a half before the event takes place. Stay tuned!!

  8. Is there going to be a Shred Fest on November 10th for secure shredding of documents? The one in May was great. Or can anyone give me an event around town
