Coming Soon: 4th Annual Shred Fest

Mark your calendars! University Facilities and Services is holding its Fourth Annual Shred Fest on Friday, July 25th from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm in Park Lot. Bring any unwanted old personal documents, such as bank statements, tax records, and bills, and old files that need to be securely shredded. With the help of Iron Mountain, all of these papers will be shredded securely right on site. You can even monitor your documents being shredded through the video camera right on the Iron Mountain shredding truck. Last year, we had an overwhelming number of participants, and over 10 tons of paper was shredded and recycled. Let’s make this year’s number even higher!

The Iron Mountain truck will come to Park Lot at 7:00 to begin the shredding, if you wish to monitor your own papers being shredded. At 7:00, all the papers will be placed in secure, locked, containers. Any University employee or student is welcomed to drop off documents. We will help you unload them from your car, place them in the secure containers that Iron Mountain lends us. Starting at 7:00 and once a container is full, an employee from Iron Mountain will send the documents up a chute into the truck to be securely shredded. Best of all, there is no limit to how much paper you drop off. So start going through those attics and basements, we will be ready for you in July!  If you wish to witness your documents being securely shredded, request the viewing when you are met by our volunteers. Please allow extra time for viewing.

Like E-Cycle Day and past Shred Fests, the event will take place in Park Lot and we will have a host of experienced volunteers. To get to Park Lot by car from the Medical Center: (1) Head south on Elmwood Ave. and take a right onto Wilson Blvd. to enter the River Campus (2) Take your first right (before the information booth) onto Trustee Road (3) Take another right onto Intercampus Drive (4) Drive across the bridge over Elmwood Ave (5) Park Lot will be to the right. Signs will be posted to help direct you.
