Recently, The University of Rochester asked TDI – Chapter #216 to hold regular visits on campus until the end of the semester. Volunteers were brought in from Therapy Dogs International to take part in the event, A PAWS in studying. This event allowed students an opportunity to de-stress by spending time with some very friendly dogs. These were open petting sessions for students who miss their dogs or just wanted to hang out and pet the dogs. The volunteers came prepared with lots of stories and information to share with the students about how their dogs came to be therapy dogs. The visits were held in the main lobby of the Rush Rhees Library where about 4 dogs visited at each session. The event was very well received and proved to be a relaxing and cheerful escape from the day to day pressures of college life.
