The UR promotional activities are underway. Our theme for Week 1 was “Go Green” and in effort to get everyone involved in this movement, SAM got a bunch of students to take the Go Green Pledge. Week 2’s theme was “Water Conservation” and Chi Omega held a water taste test to see if people could tell the difference between tap and bottles water, and if so what their preference was (results coming soon to our Facebook page).

Now, we are starting off Week 3 with “Energy Conservation” as the theme. Did you know recycling saves a lot of energy? By recycling just one aluminum can you can save enough energy to run a 100-watt light bulb for 20 hours! This week Facilities Team Green will be hosting the Game Day Basketball Challenge where UR will be competing against other schools based on recycling and waste minimization efforts during game time. It’s a mini challenge within the RecycleMania competition. On Wednesday, Feb. 19, stop by the RecycleMania table in Wilson Commonsbetween 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. to meet Facilities Team Green and win prizes. Then join us for an evening of basketball on Friday, Feb. 21 (women’s game at 6 p.m. and men’s game at 8 p.m.) where recycling rangers wearing Go Green t-shirts will be there to ensure all of our waste gets recycled properly. See our poster for details and see Rochester’s full calendar of  RecycleMania events on the UR Sustainable Facebook page.

We hope to see you at the game!
