E-Cycle Day Returns

Do you know what to do with those household electronics cluttering up your drawers and cabinets? University Facilities and Services has the answer! For the past five years, Facilities has held an electronics collection day open to all University faculty, staff, and students. This year E-Cycle Day is on Friday, October 26th from 6:30 am to 4:30 pm

Used, broken, and unwanted laptops, cell phones, MP3 players, computer accessories, and much more will be accepted at E-Cycle Day. You can even drop off your old television and the event staff will be there to help unload your vehicle. For a full list of allowable items, go to Sunnking’s website. Sunnking recycling company has been a partner of the University’s past E-Cycle Day events. Sunnking is EPA R2 certified and takes personal security very seriously. All hard drives are securely shredded and data is securely wiped in accordance with all HIPAA, FACTA, GLB and Sarbanes Oxley regulations. For more information on Sunnking’s security measures, visit here.

Please note that E-Cycle Day cannot accept departmental electronics. If you have departmental equipment in need of recycling, please follow the procedure for the University’s recycling program.

As in the past, E-Cycle Day will occur in Park Lot, the long parking lot at the end of Intercampus Drive. Directions: To get to Park Lot by car, from the Medical Center, (1) Head south on Elmwood and take a right onto Wilson Blvd. to enter the River Campus (2) Take your first right (before the information booth) onto Trustee Road (3) Take another right onto Intercampus Drive (4) Drive across the bridge over Elmwood Ave (5) Park Lot will be to the right! Signs will be posted to help direct you. Click here for a campus map. Click here for directions via Google Maps.

Remember that there is no limit to the amount of electronics you can dispose of and that this service is free! In one day, you can create space in your home and safely dispose of potentially toxic materials. Your home (and the planet) will thank you!

Please help spread the word by posting or forwarding our event flyer. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Amy Kadrie at 362-5739 or by email at amy.kadrie@rochester.edu.
