Ok, ok, ok who took June, July and August? Why and more importantly how does the Corner’s calendar read September? Is it too much to ask that the passage of summer slow down just a bit?
I know for some, fall can’t come soon enough. We have certainly had our summer share of bizarre weather; killer droughts and deadly hurricanes to mention just two. We also had some pleasant weather. Western New York started and ended the summer soggy but in between, we had some lovely weather. I hope all of you had a chance to enjoy that beautiful time of year.
We’re pretty lucky here in the northeast with autumn just upon us. We will now be seeing an explosion of colors as leaves begin to turn, our days continue to grow a bit shorter, our nights are a bit cooler; when you mix all of that together the result is a feast of color that is unmatched anywhere. Get out and enjoy it! By November, the leaves will have fallen, the days get a bit more gray, a bit more dreary, and snow is soon upon us. But each turn of a seasonal page brings to life all the wonders of this little blue marble we call home.
So, stop and smell the flowers, embrace the crispness of October mornings, wrap yourself in the blanket of warmth that comes from a wood fire on a chilly evening. Our challenge to save the planet continues. With all the beauty and magnificence our earth has to offer, comes great responsibility so that others coming behind us will enjoy this too and thank us for doing our part to make it last.
Have a fun and safe Labor Day holiday.
