Greetings global chums. The Green Corner is tying up some loose ends as we approach the end of the fiscal year and projects of all sorts, sizes, shapes and levels of importance are awaiting completion (for some of us it means starting, then completing ‘special’ projects). Just check back with me on June 29 at midnight to make sure I’m still sane. Thanks in advance!
Now many of you youngsters out there may find this hard to believe but there are still some folks who love to get ‘snail mail’. Finding a card or a letter in the mailbox from friends and family is a real treat. Also not everyone pays their bills electronically. Yes, I’m speaking about me, but I know there are others out there like me (crossing fingers), right? There must be, because the United States Postal Service has issued “Green Stamps”. Not S&H Green Stamps (ask your parents or grandparents about that wonderful shopping experience), but stamps that promote sustainability and recycling. These first class stamps are colorful, cute and are just small reminders of what anyone can do anyday to help the planet. Stop by http://www.beyondtheperf.com/stamp-releases/go-green And in acknowledging the power of irony, you may order these stamps on line. Imagine how pleasant the Mastercard rep will feel when she gets your payment with a stamp of a child turning off a light switch. Or imagine something else.
For Rochesterians who will be in town this weekend (and with the Jazz Fest happening, everyone’s here) The Zeller Corporation is partnering with electronics recycling company Sunnking and is sponsoring an electronic recycling day tomorrow, Saturday June 18 from 8AM to 2PM in the parking lot of the Zeller Corp. at 1000 University Ave. Donations taken tomorrow will support our very own Wilmont Cancer Center. If you’d like more info contact Jillean Bastian at 585-719-2950.
Finally the Green Corner wishes every dad out there a Happy Father’s Day. You just relax and we’ll take out the garbage, cook the dinner and wash the dishes. Just like the other 364 days of the year! Enjoy your day, dads. You’re very special and a hero in the eyes of your children no matter how old they are. Thanks for all you do.
