Welcome back. Tons of events happening this week for the “winter lover “,”the not too crazy about winter” and “if I see one more snow flake I’m crawling into a fetal position until May winter whiner (um, that would be me) “.
Winter lovers are enjoying the Vancouver Olympics. Hope you are all embracing the ancient technology of NBC’s tape delay for your viewing pleasure. Nice to know no one knows how to access instant results in this day and age. How did Lindsay Vonn do?
A lot of hard work goes into prepping for the Winter Games. The facilities staff in Vancouver must have been delighted at the last minute rain and fog. But the games do go on in no small part to their dedication even if they can’t control the weather. That’s why you will see the UR ground crew sitting atop their snow plows so you can get in your May softball tournament.
For those enjoying indoor sports this week was the 134th Westminster Dog Show. Well behaved and groomed, these majestic creatures move with the grace of royalty. And that’s just the owners. The dogs have a blast. Once again this show couldn’t happen without a dedicated facility staff armed with pooper scoopers, gloves and bags to make those Madison Square Garden carpets look fabulous and smell fresh as a daisy. And, you know you’ll never see a 134th Westminster Cat Show. The facilities staff would forever be refinishing the podiums from scratches, repairing all the fabric chairs, and using their blood-spill cleanup skills to assist owners when Fluffy resists wearing that collar and leash.
Just another couple of examples of the importance of the facilities world on making your world better.
