Below are links to great resources to help get you started.<\/h3>\n<h3>An introduction to the Drosophila genetic toolkit:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Start with a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.genetics.org\/content\/201\/3\/815\" target=\"_blank\">primer<\/a> on the Drosophila model organism.<\/li>\n<li>Before starting any work in Drosophila genetics, read the <a href=\"https:\/\/books.google.com\/books\/about\/Fly_Pushing.html?id=CgtIr1V0zxAC\" target=\"_blank\">Fly Pushing<\/a> book. You can find this in the lab conference room.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.rochester.edu\/larracuente\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/CarolinaDrosophilaManual0001.pdf\" rel=\"\">Carolina Drosophila Manual<\/a> is a good short reference.<\/li>\n<li>Flybase has a collection of <a href=\"http:\/\/flybase.org\/static_pages\/images\/posters\/\" target=\"_blank\">common visible mutation phenotypes<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Check the fly room wall for these posters.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Statistics and Data Analysis:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>See this publication for a review on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nature.com\/nmeth\/journal\/v12\/n3\/full\/nmeth.3288.html\" target=\"_blank\">the problem with relying too heavily on P-values.<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Do not use Microsoft Excel for statistical analysis or graphics!
