Coming in as the 5th tallest peak in New York State, Whiteface Mountain boasts an elevation of 4,865 feet above sea level, breathtaking views, and a unique history – it was the site of some alpine skiing events for the 1980 Winter Olympic Games! From the summit on a clear day, you may be able to see as far as Vermont.  We’ll be hiking up from our campsite on a Lake Placid dock, a steep and less well-known route with beautiful views. Another perk: the campsite is close to a swimming hole! This hike will be challenging, and we recommend that all 6 of our incoming freshmen trekkees have hiking experience. We can’t wait to meet you!
