About The Trek
Every year Day Treks takes about 30 first-years on three separate day hikes, through Letchworth State Park, Griffis Sculpture Park, and Stony Brook. Each day will be a new adventure through the New York wilderness as we experience hiking trails, streams, sculptures, and even the occasional swimming area. We will be staying in cabins at Letchworth State Park that offer some of the most spectacular views of the stars at night. This trip is one of the least demanding and great for anyone who wants to get out and enjoy Western New York’s magnificent surroundings.

Trek Leaders

I’m Rina and I’m from the middle of nowhere in upstate NY. I’m a public health and philosophy major (because I love the outdoors so much I want to be homeless). I like to look at stars. I’ve never done this before, but I read Throeau’s Walden so I know a thing or two about nature. Come through.
(fun fact: I didn’t take those braids out for a week bc I prefer au natural but also I looked great.)

Hi, my name is Sean Levin and I am a junior here at the University of Rochester majoring in computer science and minoring in music. When I am not getting my funk on, I love to be active ranging from sports, to anything that one can do outside. I was on the Rock Climbing Trek my freshmen year (one of the best treks, besides Day Treks of course), and I led Day Treks last summer. I can’t wait to meet all of you guys, and I hope you’re ready for Day Treks 2017, GET PUMPED!

Hi everyone! My name is Aidan McInerney and I am from Athens NY, a small town in the Hudson Valley (aka the middle of nowhere). I am a rising sophomore studying developmental biology. I am also a member of the club rugby team and MERT. Last year I was on the Marcy trek and it was by far the best part of orientation. I love being outside, I enjoy a plethora of sports, and in the summers I work as a camp counselor. I can’t wait for UR FOOT 2017!!

Hi I’m Riordan [rear-din, lol it’s confusing sorry] and I’m from Milwaukee, Wisconsin and a rising sophomore majoring in Chemical Engineering. I went on Day Treks last year, so I’m super excited to be leading the same trip this year! I like doodling and eating food (hence the picture featuring me in my natural habitat: eating pizza in the bathroom). Can’t wait to meet you all and get you excited for your next four years here!

Hi! My name is Ryan, and I am a Senior from Lowville, New York majoring in Physics and Astronomy. I went on day treks my freshmen year and had the best experience ever! I’ve led day treks both years since and I am super excited to be going back as a leader again this summer! On campus I am President of the Astronomy Club am involved with the Society of Physics Students. I also write for the Campus Times and am a member of the Strong Jugglers. URFoot is the best way to start college and I can’t wait to meet all of you and start college with an awesome experience! Oh, and the stars are awesome at night!!

Hi! My name is Johnny Polimeni, I’m from Canandaigua New York. I am currently Majoring in Computer Science. I was on Day Treks last year and I’m pumped to be leading it this year. On Campus I am on the club volleyball team and also in Outing Club. Looking back at freshman year I’m so thankful that I did UR Foot. It’s the best way to meet new people and begin your college career.

I’m a rising Senior from Scarsdale, NY, and I’m majoring in Computer Science with a minor in Journalism. I was on rock climbing when I was a freshman, led day treks when I was a sophomore but since I was abroad in the fall I couldn’t do URFoot this past year. I’m excited to be back and leading Day Treks again. Outside of URFoot, I’m on the eboard of the Ski & Snowboard club, a CS & Math Tutor, a brother of Delta Upsilon, a member of MelCAP, and a part of a few other random clubs. Day Treks is going to be a great time; if you happen to have a spare can-opener please bring it with you. Feel free to Snapchat me any questions @iain.speece
See you in August,
Jake

Hello!
My name is Amy and i’m from Buffalo, NY. I’m a rising sophomore majoring in neuroscience and minoring in studio arts. On campus, I am involved in Habitat for Humanity, URfoot and Kappa Delta Sorority. Allegany was lit af last year and I can’t wait to lead Day Treks with you guys! It really is a beautiful area and we’re gonna have an amazing time.

Hi! I’m Natasha, I’m a rising junior from Millburn, NJ, double majoring in neuroscience and economics. On campus, I’m a part of MERT – the student-run EMS organization. When I’m not studying or napping, I can be found hanging out with friends on the quad or exploring new ice cream places in Rochester! I’m super excited to be leading day treks this year — I was on caving as a freshman and can’t wait to share the great experience of URFOOT with you guys.
