Dix Range

In the third year of the Dix Trek, Lil Guo and Erik Patak will lead six freshman up the sixth highest peak in New York State! Located in the eastern part of the Adirondacks, the Dix range consists of five peaks: Dix, Macomb, East Dix, South Dix, and Hough. At a total elevation of 4857 feet, the Dix range will be a pretty challenging hike. We will hike to a campsite about three miles from Elk Lake, stay overnight, complete the 11 mile loop, and then hike back out. We ascend over 2800 feet during the 11 mile loop to reach the Dix peak, which has 360 degree views of the rest of the high peaks. From the top, we are able to see Mount Marcy, Whiteface, Giant, Algonquin, the Wolfjaw range, and the beautiful Keene Valley. If you like awesome views, fun terrain, and ill timed Dix jokes, this is the trek for you!
