Resource Reminder: Qualifying Events

Qualifying Events (QEs) are major life events that happen during the year and open up a special enrollment period for employees to make benefit changes. The tricky part is that not all QE’s allow the same benefit changes and there are submission deadlines and requirements that need to be followed. The resources below are here to help:

Changing My Benefits Webpage: This page is the best place to start if you think you have a major life change that would require you to update your personal information, W2 or make changes to your benefits.
QE Matrix: The Matrix explains details of each QE, which benefit changes are allowed and the effective date of the change.
QE Documentation: Certain QE’s require supporting documentation to be sent in along with the QE form. This page helps you understand which QE’s have this requirement and examples of acceptable documentation.
QE Form: You must submit this form to the Total Rewards Office if you experience a QE and would like to make changes to your health and/or dental benefits.  All forms must be submitted within 60 days of the QE. The form is fillable online, so you can fill it out, download, and email it directly to TotalRewards@rochester.edu.
