It is a bit hard to believe that 2019 is coming to an end. It’s nearly time to flip our calendars and move forward to a new year and decade! While many of us our struggling to wrap our minds around that, most are probably not putting much thought into what to do with the actual paper calendar itself. Although recycling is a great alternative to simply throwing out your old calendar, here are a few ideas to repurpose it instead. Many of these ideas make great weekend activities. It could be fun to get your friends and family involved with these projects during the holiday season!
- Giftwrap: With lots of presents to wrap this holiday season, why not use paper you already have? Separate the pages from the calendar and tape them to create large gift wrap sheets.
- Jigsaw Puzzle: Utilize the monthly featured photos and turn them into a project. Cut each picture into different shapes, mix them together, and try to recreate the masterpiece. For a more durable game, glue the photo onto a thin piece of cardboard before cutting it.
- Scrapbooking: Calendars surprisingly offer a lot. From photos to numbers and days of the week, calendars make a great stockpile for your scrapbooking needs. If you are not interested in scrapbooking, you may opt to cut out parts of the calendar and use them to decorate your planner for next year.
- Collage: Calendars are full of color and can be used to create an amazing art piece. Even if you are not too creative yourself, reach out to art teachers or students to see if they’d like to take your donation.
- Decorate: One way to preserve your calendar is to frame the monthly photos. You can also cut out the photos and put them together to create a larger poster.
