Sustainability Superstar: Heather Ladue

Heather Ladue, Computer Services, Facilities and Services, is the proud owner of two therapy dogs who visit various businesses in the Rochester area, including the University. Bella is an 11-year-old Boston Terrier and Gracie is a 7-year-old Bulldog mix.

Gracie came from a shelter after being seized from a drug bust (her previous owner was using dogs in a fighting ring). She loves all people and other dogs and has helped several people overcome their fear of dogs with her gentle and quiet manner. Bella, meanwhile, holds a Therapy Dogs International TDIA title for therapy dogs, which certifies that she has completed more than 50 visits (Gracie is well on her way to earning this title, too).

Both Gracie and Bella enjoy visits with the students and faculty at the University and at another local college. Heather, Bella, and Gracie also visit a local hospital where they help calm and relax patients. For Heather, it is rewarding to see the smiles Gracie and Bella can bring to people in their time of need.
