More Recycling Containers

If you have spent any time on the UR campus this past year, then you have probably noticed one thing that is plainly visible. There has been a whole lot of construction happening in various areas! New buildings, like Wegmans Hall, are being constructed. Renovations are happening within many buildings, with one of the most obvious examples being the complete re-haul of the Frederick Douglass Building (FDB). Fauver Stadium also recently got a makeover. Thankfully, improvements in both of these renovation projects included the addition of more upscale recycling units for your convenience.

The units you see in the picture above were placed inside Fauver Stadium by the entrance of each of the six concourses. The neat thing about these units is they are “transition containers“. That means they came with the necessary parts and pieces to also collect a third stream when needed — compostables. We will set up the containers to collect material to be composted during our Meliora Weekend GameDay Recycling Challenge. Additionally, recycling has been added in the stands! This may be surprising, but previously there were no trash or recycling receptacles in the stands at all, which only reinforced the common practice of leaving trash in and around the bleachers. We are hopeful that the six new custom built recycling/waste units designed to sit behind the outside doorways to each gate, will help improve sanitation in the stands as well as divert more material from being sent to the landfill!

The newly redesigned FDB student center is almost unrecognizable to what it was before! Students have been enjoying the new Dining Center on the main level which offers new and exciting menu options. If you have been in the upper levels of FDB, then you have probably noticed the addition of the six CleanRiver recycling units, which are consistent with the container units we have in locations like Wilson Commons, Gleason Library, the Goergen BME Atrium, and elsewhere. These units include signage with clear graphics to help you put items in their proper place.

Thank you for doing your part to recycle on campus!
