Student’s Corner

Turn, turn, turn your way to a sustainable lifestyle with these simple tips.

Turn your old junk into new swag.

Get crafty. Cut up old t-shirts and turn them into blankets, bags, bandanas– whatever you can come up with. Repurpose things that you no longer use and revive your wardrobe, rooms, and home.

Turn off the faucet while you brush your teeth.

Use one hand to brush your teeth and the other to control the faucet. Only turn on the water when you actually need it.

Turn out the lights every time you leave a room.

This one will become a habit very quickly if you make sure that you turn the lights out every time you are the last person leaving a room. It can, and should, be done when possible in any room– bedroom, bathroom, kitchen– the lights are just wasteful when nobody is in the room.

Turn down the brightness on your electronic devices.

This will save your battery life and you won’t have to charge them as often. Make sure you unplug the charger when you aren’t using it as well!

Turn away from things that you don’t need or that are wasteful.

Don’t buy things that you won’t use and don’t fill your plate with food that you can’t or won’t eat. It is wasteful and unnecessary.
