Basketball GameDay Recycling Challenge

The RecycleMania competition is officially underway from now until the end of March and the University of Rochester has a great line-up of promotional events and activities in store. See this article for more details and our poster for the full calendar of events. This week be sure to join the Kick-off Party on Wednesday, February 4 from 11 am – 2 pm in Hirst Lounge, where you can learn all about the competition, participate in fun activities, and win cool prizes!

What’s next? Facilities Team Green (FTG) is gearing up for it’s main event… the Basketball GameDay Recycling Challenge. Based on the GameDay Recycling Challenge in which colleges compete to minimize waste at their home football games, this challenge brings the same concept to basketball. On Friday, February 14th, we will have our zero waste stations set up for both the women’s game (starting at 6pm) and the men’s game (starting at 8pm) around the Palestra. Look for our volunteers in bright green t-shirts to help guide in case you have any questions on what should be recycled and what should not be recycled. Also be sure to stop by the table in the main lobby and meet our FTG members. There will be fun giveaways as well. We’ll be playing against the University of Chicago on the court, and playing for the planet off the court.

If you are planning on attending the game, please remember to recycle! If you weren’t planning on attending, maybe this challenge will inspire you to come support UR’s basketball team and the planet all at once. We hope to see you there!
