Student’s Corner

Tomorrow, November 15th, is America Recycles Day! Managed by Keep America Beautiful, this is a nationally recognized day geared towards encouraging Americans to recycle.

Here are some ways to celebrate, courtesy of the America Recycles website.

1)  Join Keep America Beautiful Wednesday for a live #AmericaRecyclesDay Twitter chat about what and how you can recycle in each room of the house, and to share and learn ways to do more! Search #AmericaRecyclesDay on Twitter to follow the conversation. One lucky participant will win a prize pack valued at $450, thanks to generous donations from our partners RecycleBank, Coca Cola’s Ekocycle, Dell, and Honest Tea.

2) Show Your Support: Take a recycling “selfie” and post it to your  social networks – you just  might win a prize! All you have to do is take a photo of yourself recycling and post it with the  words “#RecyclingSelfie” on your public Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Tumblr account.

3) Learn more: Visit IWantToBeRecycled.org  to find your nearest recycling center, and learn the facts about what materials can be recycled and what they can become in their new lives.

4) Celebrate in Your CommunityFind events near you.

5) Take the “I Recycle” pledge, and invite a friend or family member to pledge, too.  Five people who take the pledge will win a park bench made from recycled content to keep or donate.

6) Inspire Action: Help us spread the word about the events above with ready-to-use copy for your social media channels or email contacts.

Facilities Team Green will be tabling in Wilson Commons from 11am to 2pm today. Stop by to take the pledge, take a recycling selfie, find out more about America Recycles Day, and grab a cool prize.
