Does the fear of identity theft keep you from placing documents that contain your personal information into your recycling bin? You are smart to be cautious, as there are thieves out there who can ruin your credit score and cause some real damage to your personal security. But if this has resulted in a stockpile of papers building up in your closet, then we have a perfect planet friendly event for you! University Facilities & Services is partnering with Iron Mountain to offer the Personal Documents Roundup on Friday, July 15th. This event is open to all University employees and will allow you to bring in any documents are taking up space in your file cabinets at home so that they can be safely and securely destroyed and then recycled.
The format of this event is going to be very similar to the popular Electronics Collection Event. Like this event, the Personal Documents Roundup will be set up in Park Lot and employees can drive through to drop off their papers. Volunteers will help you unload the material (no peaking allowed). Your papers will be placed into a locked container, placed into the Mobile Shred Truck shoot and material dumped into the Mobile Shred Truck for secure shredding. The shredding can even be witnessed via a camera on the truck. Since Iron Mountain handles the Univeristy’s confidential and HIPAA regulated material, you can rest assured that your information will be in safe hands. Perhaps the best part is that recycling is a key component to Iron Mountain’s shredding process.
So, check out the flyer at: http://www.rochester.edu/sustainability/ShredPoster.pdf and let all of your coworkers know about this event. Any questions can be directed to the University’s Recycling Coordinator, Amy Kadrie (email: amy.kadrie@rochester.edu).
