I am currently a postdoc in the Presgraves lab studying the evolution of selfish DNA in Drosophila. My research is driven by the need to understand the forces driving, and elements involved in, genome evolution. I integrate population genomic, genetic, and cytological methods to study the selfish Segregation Distorter complex of D. melanogaster and the evolution of satellite DNA in Drosophila species. The Larracuente lab will open in January of 2015 at the University of Rochester.
