Introduction to Neurosurgery Dinner Talk Presented by NSFG

On October 25th, the Neurosurgery Focus Group (NSFG) hosted an “Introduction to Neurosurgery Dinner Talk” by Edward Vates, MD, PhD

Dr. Vates is a practicing neurosurgeon, co-director of the UR Multidisciplinary Neuroendocrinology Clinic, and faculty advisor for the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) Student Chapter here at URMC. His areas of clinical expertise include pituitary, skull base, and cerebrovascular surgery. His translational research focuses on mechanisms of metabolic waste clearance in the CNS. The talk began with an introduction to neurosurgery and included recent advances in his translational research projects. This was a fantastic opportunity to learn about neurosurgery from a clinical, research, and lifestyles perspective. Details on how to join the AANS student chapter were also provided.
