Brain Awareness Week – Call for Volunteers!
A message on behalf of the BAW Planning Committee:
Brain Awareness Week is quickly approaching and we are looking for volunteers for our school visits! We are visiting schools this year during the weeks of March 19-23 and March 26-29. All school visits will be in the mornings. Volunteers will teach one of three brain-related stations in teams of two.
All interested volunteers should attend one of two training sessions: Tuesday March 6th at 5 pm in KMRB 2-9654 (med center) or Wednesday, March 7th at 5 pm in Meliora Hall, Kresge Room. The training sessions will last no more than an hour.
For Med Students: PONS is teaming up with the Brain Awareness Campaign to ask for volunteers. PONS is recognized by CACHED as an SRO, therefore all community outreach through PONS can be recorded as SRO hours for Medical Students.
We also have some long-sleeved t-shirts available for purchase. (They are the same design as last year so you don’t have to order a new one if you already have one.) They will be $15, and it is not mandatory that you buy one. The t-shirts will be first come, first served with the possibility that more t-shirts will be ordered based on volunteers’ interest.
If you are interested in volunteering this year, please fill out the following Google form, saying which training session you plan to attend and what size t-shirt you would like (if you want one). Please fill out this form even if you cannot attend a training session (there is a spot to leave notes at the bottom). The sign-up sheet for school visits will be emailed out within the next week or two, but only to volunteers who sign up to attend a training session.
