Awareness, Gratitude and Miracles

jamiecutout2This beautiful little girl, Jamie White, just turned 9 on Nov. 17. But when she was born – at just 1 lb. 7 oz. and fighting to survive – celebrating even one birthday felt like a dream to her parents.

Jamie spent 87 days in Golisano Children’s Hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and it was a roller coaster ride they will never forget.

“Thank you’ seems like such a small thing to tell a doctor or a nurse that saved your child’s life,” said Tricia White, Jamie’s mother. “There really is no word that could describe what they have done for us. They gave us our miracle; they gave us our child. If we didn’t have this hospital, we would have never ever had her.”

November is World Prematurity Awareness Month and our friends at March of Dimes continue to join with parent groups and organizations in countries around the world to raise awareness about premature birth and how it can be prevented.
