  • PLEASE don’t heat the outside …

    A note from Kyle:

The number one reason for heat related problems across the community is…OPEN WINDOWS!  Sounds crazy I know but many times maintenance comes to check a heat complaint and they find the windows wide open. Lets lower heat costs this winter by setting your thermostat at a comfortable temperature and keeping windows closed. If you need fresh air, turn the thermostat down and open a window for a little while. Lets try not to heat the outside!

  • Halloween “trick or treat”

Halloween has gone past a while now but the sweet memories of the “trick or treat” event feels fresh in my mind. It was loads of fun to go around with the kids to different apartments knocking “trick or treat”. We had spider-muscle man, butterfly, little country pretty girl, little red riding pincess (actually I’m not sure if that’s what she was, but her costume was red and she was indeed a princess!)), and the tiniest tigger! A big thanks to all the residents for the bushels of candies (they will safely last till Easter!). Check the cute photos below of the event. Please join in the fun in future.

  • Pumpkin Picking and Carving

This was so much fun! I have been in Rochester for quite some time and have never participated in this traditional American custom of pumpkin picking and carving before Halloween.

Last Sunday, 25th October, we went pumpkin picking. We car-pooled to Chase Farm in Fairport. It was a drive of about half an hour. The weather was lovely and the air was fresh. The corn maze, the hay-ride, the pumpkin picking, everything was so wonderful. Even the pumpkin topped chocolate cookie (which was actually meant for my 13 month old baby, honestly!) was yummy!

The coolest part was carving those pumpkins together right here in our Goler House lobby. Spiced cider (thanks to Judy) and delicious donuts complemented the carving efforts. Not to forget the finger licking munchies that were brought too. A big thanks to all of you.

Check out the photos below. And come join in the fun in our future events.

  • cleaning the BIKE room …

    See full size image

Attention to all tenants who store their bikes in the Goler bike room!

Every few years it is important to do a clear out of abandoned bikes and it’s about time we do just that!

Starting October 9th please remove your bike from the Goler bike room and temporarily move it to your apartment.  Please keep your bike in your apartment until October 14th.  Any bikes still in the bike room during that time will be cut loose and re-chained in a different location.  We will assume that these are abandoned bikes and will only be held for one month in case someone needs to claim their property with proper identification.

This project will open up spaces for current tenants to keep their bikes and also allow us to donate the abandoned bikes to a local charity where they will be fixed and given to those in need.

THIS IS YOUR ONLY WARNING!  Please claim your bike and move it to your apartment from Oct. 9th till October 14th or you may risk losing it.  If you have any questions please contact Kyle Orton at 276-4672 or email kyle.orton@rochester.edu
