Students, faculty, and staff at the Susan B. Anthony Institute have a busy summer ahead, so we’ll be taking a blogging hiatus until mid-August.
What are we up to? Our Rocxxy: Summer Internship in Feminist Activism and Leadership interns hit the ground running! Brianna Isaacson is busy ensuring that Girls Rock! Rochester Summer Camp has a successful second year. She is also working with SAFER (Students Active for Ending Rape) Campus. Alysha Alani is doing research and coding with the Susan B. Anthony Center for Women’s Leadership that will impact the center’s mission and goals. Alexandra Poindexter, with Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region, and Quinlan Mitchell, with the Genesee Valley Chapter of the NY Civil Liberties Union, have been fighting for women’s equality by doing community organizing around Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s 10-Point NY Women’s Equality Agenda. It’s safe to say that all four interns have quite a busy summer doing important work for women and social justice!
Meanwhile, the staff at SBAI are staying busy! The Rocxxy internship cohort meets weekly with the program’s developer, Angela Clark-Taylor, for seminars and reflection. The entire staff, including Professor and Director Honey Meconi, Program Manager Angela Clark-Taylor, and Program Assistant Kaitlin Legg, are planning the 2013-2014 events calendar, overhauling curriculum information, updating the SBAI website, and preparing for a truly exciting year of programming ahead! We are also preparing the fall edition of SBAI’s For Your Information newsletter. Affiliated students, faculty, staff and alums should send personal and professional updates to sbai@rochester.edu to be included! As always, feel free to contact us with questions – we will be in the office all summer.
Have an energizing and happy summer, and we’ll see you in the fall at our welcome back events!
