Mentoring and Networking – It’s Important!

Last week on the Women in Engineering (WiE) at the University of Rochester blog, graduate student Cristina Canavesi reflected on the importance of mentoring, networking, and discussion opportunities. She also gives SBAI a shout-out. Check it out!

We met Cristina earlier this semester through our Work/Life Balance for STEM Women luncheon, part of the SBAI Failure is Impossible Mentoring Series. Cristina is an Optics student who, along with two other graduate students, founded WiE to help support women in Engineering through mentoring and networking. The group holds monthly brown bag lunches on topics like balancing career responsibilities and family, following a career path, and research. You can learn more about WiE events at their blog.
