We are excited to announce that our first major event of the academic year will be happening this Thursday (tomorrow!!!) in the Rush Rhees Library. At 4:30pm will be an opening reception for our 25th Anniversary Exhibit in the library featuring an inaugural talk by Paul Burgett, Vice President, Adviser to the President, and University Dean, “The University of Rochester: The Story of Women at the University and Susan B. Anthony’s Legacy”. The Women’s Glee Club, celebrating their 100th Anniversary, will open the event with a short performance in honor of our exhibit and their centennial. They will perform under the guidance of Philip Silvey.
Please join us and enjoy an engaging lecture followed by hors d’oeuvres and good company. You can expect to learn a lot about the past 111 years that women have been attending the University, as well as experience some insights into the present state of women at the University and perhaps even discover our hopes and dreams for the future.
The exhibit was created in collaboration between SBAI and the University Archives. It features carefully selected images that share many of the “firsts” among the University’s female students, faculty, and staff. Everyone involved worked hard to dig up these wonderful artifacts, and we’re all excited to share SBAI’s herstory with you.
