Tonight! SBA Lecture with Laura Kipnis followed by Herstory film screening

Today kicks off the beginning of some very busy days for SBAI, so we’re keeping it light with a few reminders.

Tune in today at noon to WXXI’s 1370 Connection with Host Bob Smith for the fourth feature in this Women’s History Month Radio Series, Women and Media. Tonight’s Susan B. Anthony Lecture Keynote speaker Laura Kipnis will be on air with Bob discussing “images of women in the media, and their impact–and how they have changed over time.”

At 5:00pm we begin the Opening Reception of our 18th Annual Gender and Women’s Studies Interdisciplinary Graduate Conference, held in the Hawkins-Carlson Room of Rush Rhees Library. At 5:30pm, Laura Kipnis takes the stage for the Susan B. Anthony Lecture, titled “In Defense of Penis Envy, and Other Unsayables: Tarrying with the Unprogressive.” More information about this event can be found on the conference webpage.

Then at 8:00pm tonight, we will be screening Who Does She Think She Is? in the Gowen Room of Wilson Commons as part of our Herstory: Inspiration in Film Women’s History Month Film Series.

We hope to see some familiar and new faces over these next couple of days!
