You’re Treated Like Family At The MAG

By Kaitlin Gray, Events Coordinator

From the moment my best friend of ten years asked me to be her maid of honor, I started planning her bridal shower. After all, the shower is one of the principal duties of the maid of honor (okay, that and the bachelorette party).  Luckily for me, it was also one of the easiest responsibilities. I’d have the shower right where I work, at the Memorial Art Gallery.

Working in the Events Office, I’ve been able to share many important moments with my clients. alicias-shower054 From 50th wedding anniversaries celebrating years of love and commitment to baby showers anticipating the arrival of a couple’s first child, I’ve been privy to special events that people will remember for years to come. And in the mix of birthday parties and rehearsal dinners, there have been many bridal showers. And we do it all – formal afternoon teas served on bone china, light-hearted wine tastings, receptions of one hundred and intimate occasions for ten.

After being on the receiving end of many thankful and appreciative hugs from my clients, I knew my friend’s shower would be exactly what she wanted here at the MAGalicias-shower015(she had pretty much been planning her wedding from the moment I met her!). And so, the roles switched for a moment and I became the client, ready to plan a shower for fifty people.

And, just like I tell my clients, it’s was a piece of cake. I selected which location in the MAG worked best for the guests, decided on pre-ordering meals off the lunch menu, worked with the caterer on timing and I was ready to go! My fellow bridesmaids and I (with a little help from my mom) made simple favors and place cards, popped the invitations in the mail and I was done. Just like that, a party for fifty was planned in just a few hours.

But walking into the room, you’d never know it. It was elegant and welcoming, making each guest feel pampered yet right at home.professional-photos_023 The bride-to-be was treated like a star and I was so pleased to see her smiling all throughout the shower. The food was delicious and I’m still getting compliments to the chef from the guests almost a year later.

Everything was perfect. And naturally it would be; the MAG treats their clients, guests and visitors like family. Who better to take care of your best friend than your family?
