Alternative Music Film Series continues in 2014

Lakeshore Record Exchange and the Memorial Art Gallery are happy to announce that their Alternative Music Film Series  (AMFS) will continue through 2014.

The series began in June of 2013 featuring artists such as Joy Division, The NationalTalking Heads and Daft Punk. The cooperative effort was a way of exposing Rochester’s film and music fans to films that are not widely released and might otherwise go unseen. Titles for 2014 will be announcedshortly.

The December AMFS screening will be the documentary Marley, an in depth look at the life, music and legacy of Bob Marley, Reggae’s most influential icon. Made with the support of the Marley family, there is rare footage, incredible performances and revelatory interviews with the people that knew him best. The movie will be shown Saturday, December 14th at 7:00 pm in the MAG Auditorium, with cocktails in the Pavilion at 6.

MAG and Lakeshore share the common goal to raise awareness and membership at the Gallery and in the Averell Council. This organization intends to bring together culturally engaged professionals, offer a new generation of events for both social and educational outreach and funding for operational expenses at MAG. The AMFS is always looking for new members, input and film suggestions as well. You can find out more about both organizations at any AMFS screening.

For more information on the event, please visit Lakeshore Record Exchange at 370 Park Avenue, call 585-244-8476 or go to the event on Facebook.
