Congratulations to Richard Harrington

Richard Harrington of South Lima has won the $500 Harris Popular Vote Award, given in memory of Dr. & Mrs. Manville S. Harris, at the 64th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition. Harrington’s painting Hot Summer Sky received the most votes from visitors during the first two weeks of the show. There were over 900 paper ballots to sift through!

Hot Summer Sky by Richard Harrington

Oregon native Richard C. Harrington moved to upstate New York as a teenager and graduated from SUNY Geneseo, where he majored in studio art and business. His work has been exhibited in Made in New York at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, Auburn; the Midyear Invitational at Butler Institute of American Art in Youngstown, OH; the Arnot Art Museum in Elmira; and the Lockhart Gallery at SUNY Geneseo, where he had a solo show. This is his first Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition.

The 64th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition, a biennial showcase featuring artists from western and central New York, opened July 14. Appropriate to the Gallery’s centennial year, the show features 100 works by 81 artists, including 39 who are new to the show. They were chosen from a field of 623 entries by 230 artists by Alex Nyerges, director of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts.

The 64th Rochester-Finger Lakes Exhibition is sponsored by Burke Group, M&T Bank, and the Elaine P. and Richard U. Wilson Foundation. Additional support is provided by the Rubens Family Foundation.
